Welcome to St. Paul United Church of Christ
St. Paul United Church of Christ is a progressive, welcoming, diverse and inclusive community of faith committed to extravagantly welcoming all people, spiritually growing and serving others in justice and mercy.
You are invited and welcomed to St. Paul to share your spiritual journey with others who are engaged in a living faith, committed to putting their faith and love in action in their lives and in their community.
Located in the historic village of Barrington, Illinois, we are a community of faith that warmly welcomes all people regardless of race, gender, age, ability, sexual orientation or socio-economic status. Congregational life at St. Paul is radically inclusive, with an insistence that Christ's communion table is open to all who wish to receive God's grace and sustenance, and that God's claim upon us at baptism is a gift that can never be taken away.
Although our faith heritage is over 2000 years old, at St. Paul we believe God is still speaking the ancient story of love and peace for all of God's children in new and fresh ways. We believe God's Word is relevant for the 21st century world, and encourage people to use both their heads and hearts as they seek to understand God's will for their lives. Remaining attentive to an ever-deepening relationship with God, both individually and communally, we seek to be transformed by Jesus, who guides, teaches, informs, inspires and challenges God's people to lives of faith and commitment. All are welcomed to experience a deepening relationship with God through participation in the worship life, educational classes and fellowship groups.
Trusting that God gives each of us gifts to help in the mission of transformation, we believe in the Holy Spirit's power to equip and empower each of us for the work of ministry. At St. Paul, our mission and ministry is shared among the congregation and clergy, with all being charged to work for God's justice and mercy in our community, our nation and our world.
